I'm not dead yet!

Hey, everyone who is not there. I'm quite aware I'm writing to myself right now, which is perhaps a good thing, since I've not updated this blog since March, due to a bit of childish superstition. I still can't quite believe I'm going to Japan, but just an hour ago I ordered travellers' cheques and yen; an hour before that, I was on the phone with an airline representative, hashing out luggage details.

The day of my departure (May 7) grows ever nearer, and I find myself feeling like I'm out of time already. I am making arrangements to meet friends, buy supplies, visit family, and soak in the sights and sounds of southern Ontario before I leave it for an entire year.

Perhaps my time would be better spent attempting to memorize katakana, when all's said and done, but my value system doesn't seem to run on practicalities one hundred percent of the time, and that's just fine with me.

I think I shall resolve to update this at least once a week - if not twice. There is nothing worse than a dead blog, perpetuating empty space on the internet in its little corner of abandonment. I shall endeavour to keep this blog alive; not unlike a Neopet or - for those of you who also had a '90s childhood - a gigapet.
